TAMPA, FL (October 7, 2013) – LumaStream announced a new partnership with Tampa Bay WaVE, a non-profit organization that helps entrepreneurs turn ideas into growing technology ventures in Tampa Bay, by donating eco-friendly lighting to the more than 100 technology startups that call Tampa Bay WaVE’s FirstWaVE Venture Center home.

“Our goal at Tampa Bay WaVE is to stay in this space longer than the two year grant period by making the center self supporting,” said George Gordon, Tampa Bay WaVE Board Member.  “LumaStream saw the opportunity to contribute to the Tampa Bay startup community by enhancing the lighting in the FirstWaVE Venture Center, most notably in the event space that hosts various educational workshops to over 500 entrepreneurs every month. It was just a perfect fit.”

The lighting was installed inside Tampa Bay WaVE’s FirstWaVE Venture Center, a 16,000 square foot technology hub in downtown Tampa’s Rivergate Tower. In-Rel Properties, which owns Rivergate Tower, provided the space to Tampa Bay WaVE as a result of the $1 million U.S. Department of Commerce’s i6 Challenge Grant that it won in 2012.

LumaStream offers low-voltage LED lighting solutions that have a very low footprint and are extremely energy efficient.  LumaStream is the US Earth Charter’s Sustainable Business of the Year Award recipient for 2013.

“We have an equal commitment to green technology and providing quality lighting that improves our living and workplace environments,” said Eric Higgs, LumaStream CEO.   “Creating a strong technology economy is key to creating high paying jobs, which in turn makes Tampa Bay a place where people want to live.  It is a fact that successful startup companies create a majority of these jobs. We are proud to make this contribution to the First WaVE Venture Center.”

With Lumastream’s generous donation, Tampa Bay WaVE can now make full use of the event space to support more evening events and thus even more of Tampa Bay’s brightest entrepreneurs.
