Earth Day lore is a particular interest of mine. From the fittingly humble and grassroots origins over 40 years ago, to the inaugural LEEDership Awards our Chapter held on Earth Day just a few years ago, I am always excited to hear the stories and successes surrounding this day in April.

Mostly because appreciation of the triple bottom line all started with an idea, a seed, a single brick laid – what a story that makes. Perhaps you have plans to celebrate with your fellow USGBC Chapter members at our booth at the University of South Florida’s Botanical Gardens; or you are heading up to Tallahassee for the Capital event hosted by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection; or you will be enjoying music and activities with the kids in Oscar Scherer State Park in the Myakka Branch. Whatever the event or gathering, send along your Earth Day story to us, and we’d love the opportunity to publish your Earth Day lore to our membership community. And what’s a good story without a few pictures or videos.
We have so many accomplishments among our members and friends, and what better time to showcase these than a day universally recognized to align with the core values of our organization. Send tweets, emails, pictures, or links to [email protected] or @USGBCJunkie, and let’s continue the grassroots efforts and storytelling together.

CONGRATULATIONS the 5th Annual Sustainable business awards given by Earth Charter US and in partnership with the University of Tamp Center for Ethics honored 11 companies – 5 are US Green Building Council Florida Gulf Coast Chapter Members.
