LumaStream LED Systems Reduce Energy Consumption and Cost

Why is a LumaStream LED system more efficient?

A LumaStream LED lighting ecosystem reduces power wasted in conversion and integrates with control systems that further conserve energy consumption with integrated occupancy and daylight sensing. Additionally, depending on the particular LED fixture selected, we may be able to produce brighter light using less energy (efficacy). Our system also creates less heat, offering additional energy savings by reducing HVAC requirements. Beyond this, benefits of a LumaStream ecosystem include smoother, deeper dimming, more reliable LED fixtures, lighting design flexibility, and expansive control solution options. Taken together, this is how we saved one customer about half the electric bill from lighting with our system vs. the originally specified LED lighting package.

Energy Results | LumaStream’s LED Lighting System Saved 48%

Most comparisons you’ll see compare LED to conventional lighting, but LED has become the lighting option of choice for more and more commercial spaces, leaving those comparisons less relevant than they were just a few months ago. In this analysis, Real Building Consultants analyzed the efficiency of two systems specified for a St. Petersburg assisted living facility. The newly renovated space is 26,948 square feet.

The comparison determined that selecting the LumaStream design reduced the lighting energy use by roughly 50% compared the original design, and saves about 32,000 kWh/year in energy use.

Cost Savings  |  LumaStream Low-Voltage Saved $3200 a Year in Electricity Costs

The survey by Real Building Consultants also determined that when factored at $.10 per KwH, LumaStream’s low-voltage LED lighting system will save the facility approximately $3,200 a year on their electricity bill.  This is the savings of wattage to the lighting system. Added to that is an estimated extra $400-800 a year in savings due to reduced load on the HVAC system with minimized heat dissipation from the fixtures.

Additional savings could be found through HVAC energy savings during periods when the building is cooling and lights are running, as less heat is being expelled by the lower wattage fixtures. We estimate that this savings is in the ballpark of $400-800/year depending on age/efficiency of equipment. This figure is based on an energy model created in eQuest.
