Firmware Development Engineer

The Opportunity

The Firmware Development Engineer responsibilities include the development and performance of LED driver and control solutions integrated into a broad range of low voltage lighting system applications as well as manufacturing support for transition of products into manufacturing.

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Excellent programming skills with experience in embedded system design and development required
  • Familiarity with embedded firmware development tools and extensive experience in debugging
  • Excellent documentation practices and communication skills
  • Commitment to maintaining project schedules and delivering tasks on time
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team

Your Expertise

  • Design and development of hardware and software using microcontrollers and other digital components for various supervisory and control applications in power conversion products
  • Participation in design reviews regarding compliance, risks and resolution of project barriers
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement early in the development and design phase
  • Capable of programming in low level and high-level languages
  • C/C++ multi-threaded development
  • Generation of Alpha and Beta software and hardware, preparation of prototypes and execution of debug process
  • Preparation of flowcharts and block diagrams for software design review
  • Preparation of software architecture and test plan documentation
  • Preparation of schedules for project planning and management
  • Review of documentation for accuracy
  • Work with manufacturing to integrate software solutions with manufacturing equipment and processes



Education and Experience

  • 2 -4 years of experience in embedded systems software development
  • Experience in analog, digital, and microprocessor hardware design
  • Experience with:
    • interfacing with microcontroller peripherals
    • real-Time O/S for embedded products
    • serial-based communication protocols – RS232, RS485/422, SPI, I2C, UART
    • network-based communication protocols – Ethernet, IP, TCP/UDP, SSL/TLS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science
